This work presents strategies, activities, and assessments that target students’ ability to comprehend complex text, both traditional written text or multimedia formats. It covers the essential elements of unit design and models for lesson planning; instruction for teaching vocabulary; questioning techniques; strategies and activities designed for teaching complex text; and how to measure text complexity and select appropriate texts that are aligned with curricular goals.
